3. 1. Introduction By definition a corridor in its geographical design, initially emanates from studies in spatial analysis, it is a corridor of concentration and massification of flows on an axis connecting poles. In the African context, flows are in both directions governed by supply and demand for goods and services and deal with: Product flows from different livestock value chains and cereals from upstream production poles to downstream consumption poles; The flows of different complementary inputs to support plant and animal production systems Livestock for Growth (L4G)

Different factors on the dynamics and fluidity of corridors The dynamics and fluidity of the corridors depend on several environmental, regulatory, institutional, political, material, financial and human factors that can be distributed within the poles but also along the corridor. Challenges regarding effectiveness of corridors The challenge for "efficiency of corridors" is how to meet, on a regular basis and on time, the needs (supply / demand) of the two poles, with goods and services in quantity with the required qualities and at reasonable costs so that both contribute effectively to countries' economic growth, job creation, food security, equitable income distribution, poverty reduction and the well-being of the various direct and indirect actors of the different value and supply chains. Needs of production and collection poles Infrastructure and equipment to facilitate and increase production, to improve the quality of products to be poured on the corridor: Storage infrastructure and distribution of inputs and production materials, (water, energy, fuel, livestock feed, fertilizers, seeds, veterinary and phytosanitary products, livestock vaccination pens, animal boarding ramps; intensification of production facilities (fattening parks and workshops and other intensive farms, hydro-agricultural schemes, hydroelectric dams, training centers. 9. Quality Control and Certification Infrastructures: Phytosanitary laboratories, veterinary and agri-food laboratories, veterinary and phytosanitary control posts Livestock for Growth (L4G)

Infrastructure to facilitate collection / regrouping Development of collection markets, intermediate and regrouping markets, (grain, livestock), collection centers and counters, with water points, latrines, public showers, dormitories, docks or cattle boarding yards, parking of trucks, adapted warehouses and storage lofts, infrastructure for opening up production areas (secondary roads, railways, river bins, rural tracks, cattle tracks with water points and pasture and rest areas, IT infrastructure, access to information and marketing support services, financial services, security and rescue services) Livestock for Growth (L4G)

Infrastructure for certain primary processing, packaging and conservation of agricultural and livestock products at the level of the cities located at the heart of production centers: Secondary abattoirs, modern refrigerated slaughterhouses meeting export standards, tanneries, shelling factories, dairies, local processing plants that meet quality standards, etc. Livestock for Growth (L4G)

12. On the passage or corridor: There is need to: 1. Construct / rehabilitate paved roads, railways, track and vehicle maintenance infrastructure, fuel stations, ICT infrastructure, airport extensions with cargo terminals and cold rooms, 2. Construct / rehabilitate warehouses, border refrigeration slaughterhouses, wholesale border markets (grain, livestock, inputs and production equipment, fuel warehouses, transit yards, dry ports, motels; 3. Build / rehabilitate various windows of facilitation and not of complication (security services, emergency services, access to information services, packaging industries, financial services) Livestock for Growth (L4G)

Transport companies: Fleets adapted to the transport of the various products (refrigerated trucks for meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, livestock trucks, dry grain trucks, trucks for the transport of material production inputs, trains with adapted wagons, Packaging infrastructure, peri-urban intensive production infrastructure (farms, intensive livestock farms. 14. Needs at the consumption / terminal pole : There is need to  : • Unloading facilities: storage and wholesale warehouses, livestock and livestock terminal markets, grain terminal markets, other products and by-products; • Infrastructure for transformation,processing, quality control, preservation, packaging, redistribution, slaughterhouse and other industries that meet standards; • Energy and other infrastructure: electricity, fuel stations, truck assembly plants, etc. Livestock for Growth (L4G)

15. All this requires: • A real quantitative and qualitative assessment of needs at all levels • The mobilization of the consequent resources for the realization of the various necessary infrastructures • Compliance with environmental standards in the setting up of the various infrastructures, Livestock for Growth (L4G)

17. All this requires: • Strict compliance by the various states with ratified agreements and treaties relating to the free movement of goods and persons, and other human rights. • Government and TFPs need more efforts in the adoption / application of favorable incentive policies and regulatory frameworks, the mobilization of funding, good governance, the strengthening of the technical, organizational and managerial capacities of the various actors, risk and abuse reduction, Livestock for Growth (L4G)

18. All this requires: • It takes more effort from private economic operators, producers and their organizations, civil society organizations, carriers and their organizations, support services, in short efforts from the various direct actors and users of corridors to face the challenges and achieve the goals of zero hunger by 2030, Economic growth and reduction of unemployment and poverty of different countries, guarantees of stability and social quietness.
