Conclusion • Antibiotics are frequently given for respiratory tract infections in outpatient and inpatient settings • Inappropriate antibiotic use is common for these diagnoses • Most upper respiratory infections are viral and do not need antibiotic treatment • Observation without antibiotics is an option for children with acute otitis media
