  2. Getting to know Rembrandt Early College High School VISION: Our vision is to produce a body of holistic leaders who will positively and democratically serve their community. MISSION: Vanguard Rembrandt ECHS will provide post-secondary educational opportunities to all students, cultivating and preparing students to graduate with a two-year Associates Degree, Industry Certification, or college hours from South Texas College within a four year period.

What is Early College High School • Vanguard Rembrandt Early College High School is an Early College model in a partnership with South Texas College. • Allows students least likely to attend college an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and 60 college credit hours. Early College High Schools: • >Provide dual credit at no cost to students • Offer rigorous instruction and accelerated courses • Provide academic and social support services to help • Students succeed • Increase college readiness • Reduce barriers to college access

Commitment Form: Cohort Requirements • Student must attend a TSI summer bridge program beginning in 2019 until each section of the reading, writing, and math Texas State Initiative Assessments (TSI) are passed. • TSI tutorials and intervention will be required as an ongoing process. • Priority in scheduling will be given to the dual credit course over any other course offered (ex: Advanced Placement/electives (sports, fine arts, etc.). • Courses will be scheduled for the student based on the 60 hour crosswalk leading to an Associate’s Degree from South Texas College (STC). • Summer school, evening or Saturday courses may be required if a campus can’t offer a specific course during the assigned academic year.

  9. Summer Bridge: TSI Camp Texas Success Initiative Assessment, (TSI) determines the appropriate level of college course work for an incoming student. The TSI test consists of three separate : Mathematics, Reading, and Writing. Summer Bridge: Will help prepare students for their first year as an Early College High School student Bridge activities include: time management, team building, leadership, student activities orientation, college scholarships, student life and the transition to college, conflict management, ACCUPLACER workshops and practice tests, meeting with current dual enrollment students, and an in-depth tour of South Texas College.

  10. Summer Bridge: TSI Camp Advising • The Advising Process is tailored to the student’s grade level and to their academic standing. STC offers 3 types of advising; Online, Individual, and Group Advising. • Online Advising: An online module will allow students to receive college related information hosted through the Blackboard platform. • Individual Advising: A South Texas College liaison meets with individual students to answer questions and discuss their academic standing and graduation potential. • Group Advising: Group advisement sessions hosted to present college related information tailored to event type request and grade level audience.
