Hangover • According to Dr. Hepburn: • Thehangoversare causedbyincreasedlevels of alcohol breakdownproductscalledacetaldehyde, whichisanunpleasantsoundingwordunlikesay, peppermintor playoffs. • Alcohol, a diuretic, leads to dehydration and causes electrolytedepletion. Dehydrationmeansthatthebodynowcan’teasilyriditself of theirritatingacetaldehyde and otherbyproducts of alcohol. 

  4. AdvicesforHangover • Try to drinkwaterorbeverageslikeGatoradeorbouillonsoup to helpreplacelostelectrolytesorlostsoup • Don'tdrinklargeamounts of alcohol quickly. No more thanonedrinkanhour, sincethatisallthealcohol yourliver can handle. • Exercise. Itraisesyourmetabolicrate, whichhelpsyoucleartoxinsassociatedwithmetabolizing alcohol. • Drinkcleardrinks. Complexorganicmoleculescalledcongenerscreate more toxicbyproductsand are found in greaterconcentrations in darkerdrinks (e.g. whisky, brandy, rum, even red wine) comparedwithcleardrinks (e.g. vodka, gin, whitewine, Fresca)

AdvicesforHangover • Eat a mealbeforeyoustartdrinking • Ifyou consume more thanthreealcoholicbeverages a day, be verycarefulwithacetaminophen, whichitself can mess up a liver • Drink more alcohol itdoesn'thelp and it'sonlyenhancingtheexistingtoxicity and makingdehydrationworse. • Drinkcaffeinatedbeverageswillfurtheraggravatedehydration.
