Surgeons remove the tumor and surrounding tissues. For ovarian cancer, hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) may be necessary. • Uses drugs to kill cancer cells or stop them from growing. It's often used after surgery to kill any remaining cancer cells, or before surgery to shrink tumors. Chemotherapy can be given orally or through injections. • Uses high-energy beams to kill cancer cells or shrink tumors. It can be external (from outside the body) or internal (placing a radioactive substance near the cancer). • Targets specific molecules involved in cancer growth. It's used mainly for advanced or recurrent gynecologic cancers. Targeted therapy drugs may be combined with other treatments. • Boosts the body's immune system to fight cancer. It's being studied for use in some gynecologic cancers, especially recurrent or advanced cases.
