  6. Sedimentology/Stratigraphy CommitteeNORWEGIAN SEA RESEARCH PROJECT Problem: • Recent poor exploration results in the Møre and Vøring Basin indicate a serious problem in the prediction of the presence of reservoir sands. • Seismic features such as flatspots have not proven to be prospective. • Existing sand fairway models have been falsified. The aim of the project is to address two main uncertainties in the exploration process: • The absence of clay mineralogical input to a "rock properties" model for the Upper Cretaceous (shale rock properties in particular), enhancing seismic attribute evaluation • Methodologies to predict sand-presence in a distal/basinal setting

  7. Contractor: Geological Institute, University of Oslo Project started March 2004 : 3years Total cost : 4 mill NOK Funding expected from Norwegian Research Council Participating companies: • Conoco Phillips • Norsk Hydro • Gaz de France • Statoil

  8. Presentations by companies Presentation of your company at the FORCE annual meeting for cooperation between the Universities/Research institutions and the Oil companies. On behalf of FORCE we kindly ask you to contribute with 1-2 overheads to be presented in the opening session on the annual meeting between Force and the Universities and Research organisations. The meeting is taking place on May 13-14 th 2004 at NPD in Stavanger. The overheads will be presented by the chairman of the Force/Fresco committee. The overheads should show very general your company's research interests within Exploration and Increased Oil recovery (Force- area), future trends and, if possible, also list ongoing (official) projects. If you can include your company's need for candidates from the Universities, this will be highly appreciated by the Universities' representatives attending. Finally we kindly ask you to include a contact person for the Universities and research institutions for Force-related projects.
