  2. Location • Grasslands are found on every continent but Antarctica.

  3. Precipitation • It gets 10-30 inches of rain per year.

  4. Temp. Ranges • Winter: can be as low as -40 degrees. • Summer: in the summer it can be as high as 70 degrees.

  5. Plants • Shrubs • Trees • buffalo grass • ryegrass • foxtail • wild oats • purple needle grass

  6. Animal • Bison • Red Milkweed Beetle • Przewalski's horse • Kangaroo • Grant's Zebra • Southern White Rhino

Interesting Facts • There are 3 types of grasslands. • Tall grasslands: have very tall grass, up to 5 feet tall, and they get almost 30 inches of rain a year. • Mixed grasslands: have grasses that grow around 2-3 feet high. This kind of grassland gets about 15-25 inches of rain in a year. • Short grasslands: This type of grassland is almost a desert. It has very short grass and only receives 10 inches of rain each year.

  8. Environmental Concerns • There are three major threats to grasslands: • conversion to agriculture • global warming • changes in precipitation.
