CAN South Asia • We are also one of the oldest Southern Nodes of CAN, established in 1991 • Secretariat spreads across South Asia with two full time staff and three part time staff • Is a legally registered entity • Membership has evolved from 20 member in 2009 to 114 by end of 2013 • Is the Sub-Regional Node of Asia Pacific Adaptation Network in South Asia • Board of directors for Governance of CANSA and NSC for Policy work at national level • New Board elected in August 2013 • CANSA has its own by-laws • CANSA is a committee member of the Adaptation Forum on Loss and Damage launched in South Korea • www.cansouthasia.net

Programs of CANSA for 2013… • Organised a regional workshop on Innovative Finance Resources for parliamentarians, policy makers and Civil Society Organisations, in Delhi India. • Regional Workshop for Asia for Southern Voices Program, CANSA network members and SV partner members from South Asia and Eastern Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam) , Delhi India. • Annual Knowledge Sharing Workshop of CANSA for members and partner organisations, in Agra, India. • Pre-COP and Post COP briefings and preparations on national basis. • Joint Paper on emissions in the aviation sector in partnership with GermanWatch • Parliamentarians training workshop on South Asian climate policies, Islamabad in December 2013 • Following the UNFCCC process and playing and active role in the CANI workshop groups.

  4. Program CANSA in 2013… • Research papers on climate finance, loss and damage, sustainable agriculture, NAMA framework • Developing a communication strategy • Working on revamping CANSA as a regional entity through reaching out to other networks and media outlets to disseminate information developed. • IPCC related activities press conferences, trainings, discussion forums.

  5. Outreach and Communications • CANSA website cansouthasia.net • CANSA on FB has a membership of over 3500 and is functioning as a tool for outreach and networking • CANSA emailing list provides updates on activities on a regular basis • CANSA on twitter @CANSouthAsia

  6. Upcoming Events and Activities • EU South Asia summit, India, March 2014 • Regional Workshop for Asia, Southern Voices Program April 2014 • Community Based Adaptation Workshop, April 2014 in Nepal • National Steering committee activities across the 7 countries
