  3. North Dakota Economy Booms, Population Soars “North Dakota, the state with the nation's lowest unemployment rate, capped a decade of economic prosperity with dramatic population growth in its biggest cities.”

North Dakota population at all-time high - exceeding the record set in 1930 2011 Population Estimate 683,932 The state’s population has increased by 50,000 residents from a decade low of 632, 809 reported in 2003, the U.S. Census Bureau reports. Population has grown during 7 of the last 8 years.

Recent highway improvements • Super 2 construction on US 85 between Watford City and Williston • Installing traffic signals systems at highway intersections near Tioga, Williston, Watford City and Stanley • Major construction and widening projects on ND 8, ND 22, ND 23 and US 85 • Expediting repairs on damaged roads in Williston and Watford City • Adding centerline and edge-line rumble stripes on two-lane highways
