  5. Purpose of a Site Visit Observe the DCANP funded program “in action” to ensure effectiveness. Ensure the program is implemented as described in the PY 2011-2012 Grant Application. Provide technical support. Provide feedback to funders, elected officials, Federal Government, and DCANP Board.

  6. Who needs to be there? • Grantee’s Program Manager and other program personnel. • Financial Personnel. • Executive Director for initial/exit conference. • Any interested Board Members. • Person responsible for UA-SW data reporting.

  7. Where does the Money Come From? For 2011-2012 DCANP has four competitive funding streams: • Traditional Funds – Education Trust Fund (ETF) • Children First- Tobacco settlement dollars from the Children First Trust Fund. • CBCAP – U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. Title II, Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment Act • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) – Fatherhood and Healthy Relationship Programs, through a partnership with State DHR.

  8. Traditional Funds(ETF) • These state dollars can be used to fund all types of programs that are allowed in the 2011-2012 RFP. (Primarily School-Based and Non-school based/After-school programs).

  9. Children First Funds(CFTF) • Tobacco Settlement Dollars • Funds primarily At-Risk Youth Programs and Family Support Programs. • These private dollars can be used to fund all types of programs that are allowed in the 2011-2012 RFP.

  10. Federal Funds • Community Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP): Section 201 of Title II of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA). • TANF: Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, US Dept. of Health and Human Services, in partnership with State DHR (Fatherhood/AFP Programs & Healthy Marriage).

Written request required. • Grantee participation in child abuse and neglect awareness programs (Blue Ribbon Campaign, Shaken Baby Syndrome/AHT, CTF/Realtors tag, Pinwheels for Prevention, etc.) • Fundraising (funds other than Government grants)

Page 6 continuedAdvocacy with civic and elected officials (RFP Page 10): • Elected Official Written Notification, Press Release and Media Events, Page 10 • Each program is required to notify their respective members of the Legislature in their District of all grant awards, car tag and income tax promotions and special events. Invite your State Senator and Representative to visit your program and be recognized for his/her support of DCANP funding for your prevention program. Coordinate the media event with all other DCANP Grantees in the service area, county and/or Congressional District. Mail a copy of the letter of invitation and press release to the assigned DCANP Division Director and DCANP Director. If the Legislator(s) accepts, DCANP will make every effort to have a DCANP Board or Staff member join you to recognize the Legislator(s), and make photographs for the Media. (In July, DCANP will also notify members of the Alabama Legislature of grant awards immediately following the Board’s approval of Program Year 2011-2012 grants.) • Press/Media Event- Not just a check presentation.

Page 7 Required Background ChecksRFP Page 4 • All employees and volunteers having direct contact, care/treatment, or custodial responsibility with children eighteen years of age or younger, as per Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention (DCANP) – Children’s Trust Fund policy, must have a national criminal background investigation completed prior to working directly with a child under the age of eighteen.  Minimum requirements include: •      -National Criminal Search •      -National Sex Offender Report •      -OFAC Report •      -Alabama Statewide Search •      -Social Security Trace Hawk • The estimated fee for the national criminal background check is $14.00 - $16.00 per individual.  A grant applicant will include funding for each background check in the proposed budget under the line of “Background Check”.
