They were out of the country last December.

  11. STATION 6: Consistency of Verbs Write the correct form of the underlined verbs. Last December, my family and I went to Hong Kong Disneyland. We (1) stayedat Disney’s Hollywood Hotel which was very close to the park. We (2) enjoyedall the attractions. My sister (3)rodeSpace Mountain while the rest of us just went inside Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblasters. For lunch, we (4) ateat the Royal Banquet Hall where I (5) orderedsteak. Late that night, we (6) watchedthe fireworks. It was such a tiring but fun-filled day!

  12. Remember: CONSISTENCY of VERB TENSE Sentences and paragraphs should have consistency of verb tense. If you are talking about events/ actions in the past, ALL your verbs should be in the past tense in that sentence or paragraph!

  13. Consistency WRONG: Last night, we visited my grandmother and we sleep in her house. RIGHT: Last night, we visited my grandmother and we slept in her house.

  14. Exceptions to CONSISTENCY of VERB TENSE The verb tense only changes when: • you are quoting directly something that a character said (“Give me that book,” my brother said.) • you are talking about different events in various times (I usuallygo early to school but yesterday, I arrived late because of a flat tire.)

  15. On your own, read the paragraph and take note of the verbs that should be in the past tense. Write these verbs on your notebook (There are 15 verbs to be changed. If you find 10-12, you get a G. If you find 13-14, you get a VG. If you get all 15, you get an E! ).

  16. A few days ago, we have our field trip. First, we go to the Davao Crocodile Park. We see hundreds of crocodiles keep in one place! One man, Bugoy, even cross a tight rope and try to dance while hanging 10 feet above the crocodile cage! He almost fall! After the Crocodile park, we visit the Science Discovery Center. I play with the computer games there. At the Manila Cathedral meanwhile, I pray and take down Spanish words on my notebook. At Bahay Chinoy, I feel scared of the life-like statues because they look so alive! Finally at Doll Joy, I buy my sister a doll as a souvenir. It is such a fun trip!
