  1. The Lesson Outline. • A Lesson outline is like a road map that will keep you from getting lost and help you arrive at your destination. • The lesson outline is a good tool to guide your teaching.

  2. The Lesson Outline • Teachers who are unsure of their outlines are more prone to drift while teaching a lesson, which leaves the learner frustrated. • When you use a good outline you will find it easier to remember your important principles and be more likely to communicate in an effective way.

  3. The Lesson Outline • Regardless of the specific form your lesson outline takes, it should broadly cover everything you wish to discuss. • Take time to write out your lesson outline. • Review the contents of the outline.

  4. The Lesson Outline • Develop a working mastery of your lesson before you begin teaching it. • Be sure you know the outline well enough that you are not tied to it during the session. • You may want a copy of your lesson outline in front of you as you teach.

  5. The Lesson Outline • Distribution • Handouts • PowerPoint • Chalk or Porcelain Board • LCD projector

  6. THE LESSON AIM • You can’t lead your class until you know where you are going! • When you know where you are going the journey is always more enjoyable!

  7. Teaching Aim The most clear concise statement of your chief purpose in a specific lesson.

  8. Questions to Ask When Selecting an Aim • Who Am I Teaching? • What Am I Teaching? • What Am I Trying to Achieve? • What Do I Want to Achieve in This Session?
