Objectives of ADOPT • In Europe there is a strong interest to explore the potential scientific, technical and industrial possibilities of P&T. • Integrating the total European efforts as efficiently as possible would be very beneficial and would speed up the development and put the European R&D at lead in this field. • The specific objectives of ADOPT are: • to promote consistency between P&T FP5 projects and nat. prog. • to define rules for info. dissemination and access to national R&D programme data • to review results of the P&T FP5 projects and avoid duplications, • to identify gaps in the overall programme, • to inform the members about the ongoing activities in P&T and ADS outside the EU (Intern. Org., USA, Japan, Korea, former CIS) • to give input to future research proposals and guidelines for further R&D orientation,

ADOPT Work Plan (2) • To fulfil its objectives ADOPT is organised In 5 WPs : • WP1: Thematic network coordination and ADOPT Web-site development & Maintenance • WP2: Definition of the rules for information dissemination within ADOPT thematic network. • WP3: Evaluation of all clusters and recommendations to projects coordinators and to EC • WP4: Organisation of the International Workshop dedicated to P&T and ADS development • WP5: Recommendations to EC for further activities in P&T and ADS development

ADOPT Key Issues • Define rules of dissemination especially for national or bilateral R&D programme results • Organise the reviewing of national activities ? • Appoint contact persons for ADOPT with • Int. Org. : ISTC, OECD/NEA, IAEA • USA • Japan • Korea • Russia • Establish an Executive Committee to be in charge of the ADOPT Th.N. management • Define towards future the maintenance of the ADOPT Web-site as management tool
