This, students, is NOT real poetry • Poetry comes from the heart • It is not meant to be a cliché group of words/ it’s supposed to tell readers about the author’s view on life • We are going to be doing this activity again, for real this time! • Get out a new piece of paper and write the same emotion/ idea down • When you pass the paper around this time, write something more specific!!! • What you write should be so specific that nobody in this class but you could have written it

  9. Dream Poem • Step One: Write a Paragraph About a Nightmare/ Dream you have had in the past • Example: I will unfortunately never forget the nasty nightmare I had about an evil doll. I was in my basement; there were no lights on, so it was extremely dark. I was about to go upstairs, but I tripped and fell. Suddenly, the stairs got even steeper. I tried to get up, but I couldn’t. My legs were weak. Suddenly, this ugly, plastic doll with curly blonde hair and blood red eyes comes walking towards me. She starts speaking in a high-pitched voice, but it soon turns into a devilish, nightmarish growl. I frantically try to fight to get my legs to move. The doll comes closer. As soon as it touches my leg, I jolt awake, sweaty and scared.
