  3. Ephesians 4:20-24 What is the secret to a successful Christian life? 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  4. Ephesians 4:20-24 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

  5. THIRD RACE We are a newly created race. We are to be different.

  6. Ephesians 4:25-32 Five Behaviors 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.  26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.  28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

  7. Ephesians 4:25-32 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Natural Vices for Supernatural Graces 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

  8. Be Angry and Sin; Be Angry and Sin Not Parorgismos is that inside, seething, fuming, resentment that comes out of jealousy and anger and envy and it just sort of seethes until you become an ugly, moody, person with a root of bitterness. Anger is not the sin, but the motive

  9. Anger of Cain 1 Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel.   Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

  10. “In your anger do not sin”: • Cain brought produce • Action contrary to what you know is right/best • Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, • Choice to get over anger • Cain’s face was downcast • and do not give the devil a foothold.  • Gen 4:7 “if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” • Cain killed Able You don't get angry at somebody because they deserve it, you get angry because you're sinful.

  11. “In your anger do not sin”: • I have anger • Don’t be angry over your own cause, when you are offended • Anger only when God or others reputation is at stake • Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, • New Attitude in your mind (4:23) – Want it • Put on the new self (4:25) • and do not give the devil a foothold.  • Anger becomes a habit • Satan becomes your father

  12. Eph 4:22,24 Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; put on the new self, created to be like God YOU “#*!& makes me angry.” The situation does not make you angry, it just brings out the anger that is already in you.

  13. Eph 4:22,24 Put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; put on the new self, created to be like God YOU My Rights Entitled Embarrassed Don’t get your way

  14. We didn’t deserve God’s forgiveness, but he did. We don’t yell at people because they deserve it, but because we’re sinful Ephesians 4:25-32 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

  15. Genesis 4:7 —If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? Rom. 15:7—Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. I John 1:7—But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
