  2. Patient History (1) • Background: Mr. WONG, 35 years old, assistant manager in a small trading company • Chief complaint: runny nose for 2 days, with mild cough; no sputum or sore throat; no headache; no fever, chills or rigor

  3. Patient History (2) • Past medical history: Allergic rhinitis, otherwise no other chronic illnesses • Drug and family history: Unremarkable

  4. Patient History (3) • Social history and lifestyle (1): • Non-smoker, non-drinker • Married 2 years ago, lives with a 33 year-old wife and a 1 year-old baby boy • Works in a busy company, sits in his office almost 12 hours everyday

  5. Patient History (4) • Social history and lifestyle (2): • Sedentary lifestyle; no regular exercise • Eats out in nearby fast food restaurants for breakfast and lunch almost everyday; usually has dinner at home after work (usually after 9:00pm) • No ideas of benefits of physical activity to his health (at pre-contemplation stage of motivation to exercise)

  6. Physical Examination (1) • General examination: GC well, afebrile, no neck lymph node palpable, BMI: 29.4, BP 120/80, Pulse 80 regular

  7. Physical Examination (2) • ENT examination: mildly congested nasal turbinates and mucosa; throat clear; ear drum intact, not congested • Chest examination: chest clear, good air entry

  8. Task • Presumptive diagnosis: mild URI with mild recurrence of allergic rhinitis • Task: You are going to prescribe exercise to this patient.
