  4. 1.SARVASHIKSHAABHIYAN(SSA) TheSarvaShikshaAbhiyan(SSA)isaflagshipprogramlaunchedbythegovernmentof India to provide universal elementary education to children aged 6 to 14 years. The programaimstoimproveaccess,quality,andequityineducationbyprovidingfreeand compulsoryeducationtoallchildren. Under the SSA, the government provides financial assistance to states and union territoriesfortheconstructionofschoolsinDehradunandIndia,thehiringofteachers, andthesupplyoftextbooksandotherteachingaids. 3

  5. 2.MID-DAYMEALSCHEME(MDMS) The Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDMS) is a school meal program launched by the governmentofIndiatoenhance thenutritionalqualityofchildrenstudyingin governmentandgovernment-sponsoredschools. Under this system, free mid-day meals are given to students on all active days. The meals provided include rice, dal, vegetables, and other nutritious food items. The programaimstoincreaseschoolattendance,reduceclassroomhunger,andenhance thenutritionalstatusofchildren. 3

  6. 3.RASHTRIYAMADHYAMIKSHIKSHAABHIYAN(RMSA) The Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) is a program launched by the government of India to enhance the entrance to and quality of secondary education. The program aims to increase the enrolment rate in secondary schools and English mediumschoolsand improve thequality ofeducation by providing adequate infrastructure,trainingofteachers,andthesupplyofteachingaids. UndertheRMSA,financialassistanceisprovidedtostatesandunionterritoriesforthe construction of schools, hiring of teachers, and the supply of textbooks and other teachingaids. 3

  7. 4.NATIONALMEANS-CUM-MERITSCHOLARSHIP SCHEME(NMMSS) TheNationalMeans-cum-MeritScholarshipScheme(NMMSS)isacentrallysponsored scheme launched by the government of India to give scholarships to economically weakerandtalentedstudents.Theschemeisaimedatreducingthedrop-outrateatthe secondarylevelandencouragingmeritoriousstudentstocontinuetheireducation. Under the NMMSS, scholarships are provided to students studying in classes 9 to 12 whohavesecuredatleast55%marksinthepreviousyear'sexaminationandbelongto theeconomicallyweakersectionsofsociety. 3

  8. 5.NATIONALSCHOLARSHIPSCHEME The National Scholarship Scheme is a government program that provides financial assistance to students who cannot afford to pay for their education. The program provides scholarships to students fromeconomically weaker sections of society, scheduledcastes,scheduledtribes,andotherminoritycommunities. Thescholarshippaymentdiffers relyingonthelevelofeducationandthecategoryof the student. Under the scheme, students can receive financial assistance for tuition fees,books,uniforms,andotherexpensesrelatedtoeducation. 3

  9. 6.SCHEMESFORGIRLEDUCATION ThegovernmentofIndiahaslaunchedseveralschemestopromoteeducationamong girls in schools in India. These schemes aim to increase the enrollment rate of girls in schools and give financial aid to families who can't afford to enroll their daughters in school. SomeofthepopularschemesforgirleducationincludetheBetiBachao,BetiPadhao Yojana, and the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana is a government program that focuses on improving the sex ratio and promoting the education of girls. The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a savings scheme that can be opened for girls below the age of 10, and it provides a higher rate of interest than regularsavingsaccounts. 3

  10. 7.INCLUSIVEEDUCATIONFORDISABLEDAT SECONDARYSTAGE(IEDSS) The Inclusive Education forDisabled atSecondary Stage (IEDSS)isaprogram launchedbythegovernmentofIndiatoprovideeducationalopportunitiestochildren with disabilities. The program aims to provide equal opportunities to children with disabilitiesbyprovidingadequateinfrastructure,trainingofteachers,andthesupplyof teachingaids. UndertheIEDSS,financialassistanceisprovidedtostatesandunionterritoriesforthe construction of schools, hiring of teachers, and the supply of textbooks and other teachingaids. 3
