  3. Introduction Porcupines are warm-blooded mammals with sharp quills and fur. They live in forests and grasslands. Porcupines are interesting and they live all over the world.

  4. Habitat A porcupine lives in cold forests. It sometimes digs tunnels in the forest. It lives alone

  5. Life Cycle Porcupines attract each other by singing love songs. Porcupine babies are born in the spring. One hour after birth the babies’ soft quills become hard. Porcupines live for 20 years. Mother and baby stay together for two months.

  6. Food Porcupines eat bark, branches and twigs ,and food left around.

  7. Body Porcupine colours are dark brown and black. Each porcupine has about 30.000 quills on its back. The porcupines long claws give them something to dig with.

  8. Fun Facts The name “porcupine” is Latin for “pig spine”.

  9. Glossary Quills – long. sharp pointy hairs that cover the back of the porcupine and protect them from any enemies
