  1. DUSTAC APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS A step-by-step look at application rates for construction areas

  2. The Use of Polymers • The use of polymer based dust suppression is recognised as the most effective form of dust control • A polymer is a large molecule composed of repeating structural units • Although the term polymer is sometimes taken to refer to plastics, it actually encompasses a large class of natural and synthetic materials • Both synthetic and natural polymers are used in road stabilisation • This applies to haul roads and other trafficable surfaces. • The benefits of these type of products include reduced water application more stable road surfaces and a long term sustainable management program. • Dustac is a natural polymer

  3. DAY 1 • First application – 2.5% Dustac solution. • 250L of Dustac in a 10,000 litre water tank of water. • Fill water truck to 75% level, pump in 250L of Dustac and then top up water truck to full level. • This will facilitate the mixing of the product and at the same time limit foaming • Spray evenly over all construction areas using center spray head only • The minimum application rate is 1litre of solution per m2

  4. DAY 2 • Second application – 1.25% Dustac solution. • 125L of Dustac in a 10,000 litre water tank of water. • Fill water truck to 75% capacity, pump in 125L of Dustac and then top up water truck to full level. • The minimum application rate is 1litre of solution per m2 • If the surface has been allowed dry out pre-water to match up moisture horizons • Spray evenly over all construction areas using center spray head only.

  5. DAY 3 • Third application – 1.25% Dustac solution.

  6. DAY 4 • Spray water only when required. • Dustac treated areas will require less water than untreated areas to control dust generation • Depending on road base water savings can be expected to be up to 80% • Overwatering will dilute Dustac concentrations at the top of the road base profile. • Should the amount of water needed to settle dust increase reapply Dustac as described in Day3 protocol above • After torrential rain it may be necessary to reapply the protocol from Day 1 above
