  3. DISTRICT 6960 THE PURPOSE OF THE DISTRICT: TO SUPPORT THE CLUBS

TRI-LEVEL LEADERSHIP • Each year a new District Governor Nominee Designate is chosen by the District Nominating Committee which is made up by representatives of all eleven areas. • One of the DGND’s first responsibilities is to select a person from each area to be his or her representative there. The person chosen must be a past club president* and an active member of good standing in a club of good standing. (*or will be a past club president prior to the date the DGND takes office as DG.)

THE ASSISTANT GOVERNOR / DGN and DGE • Is an official representative of the District Leadership Team. • Provides assistance to the Assistant Governor and serves as a liaison between the clubs in their Area and District Leadership.  • Serves as a resource for the clubs in their Area.  • Will attend Area meetings called by the District.  •  Will make informal club visits from time to time to build strong relationships with their members, officers and directors and will make two, semi - annual official visits to each area club, sending a club visit report, via email, to their Leader.

  7. …..continued • The DGND and these eleven representatives form a team that will be together for the next three years, moving up to a new position each year, learning and working together to help the district support the clubs in their Advancement of the Object of Rotary. • The eleven representatives form a “class”, as in the Assistant Governor Class of 2014-2015, and will develop lasting friendships and enjoy fellowship for years to come.

THE ASSISTANT GOVERNOR / DGN and DGE • Will be encouraged to become a graduate of The Rotary Leadership Institute.  • Will be encouraged to attend District Training Seminars and the District Conference.  • Will be encouraged to be a sustaining member and benefactor of The Rotary Foundation.  • Serves as needed as a District Committee Member within their Area of Focus.

THE ASSISTANT GOVERNOR • Serves in the same capacity as in the previous 2 years, PLUS….  • Will serve as a special aide to the District Governor for official club or area wide visits. • Will convene a mid-year Area Presidents’ meeting to learn how the clubs are progressing and their plans for the second half of the Rotary year.

Mission & Tasks • The mission of the membership committee is to support clubs in attracting and retaining quality members by offering training, advice when requested, and resources to facilitate member focused club programs, administration and increased Rotary knowledge. • Tasks: • Provide clubs with tools and support to serve members and meet their needs • Provide resources on Website for Rotary Programs, Rotary Minutes and Rotarian to Rotarian Networking • Provide an annual membership seminar • Maintain and grow a quality speakers list

  14. Mission & Tasks • The mission of the District and Rotary Programs committee is to facilitate and encourage participation by clubs interested in the programs. This on-going relationship will be managed by the individual clubs with district input as requested. • Tasks: • Retain information about the programs • Identify and support a District leader for each program as designated by the District Governor • Maintain appropriate information and resources for each program on the District Website • Connect program leaders with interested clubs • Seek feedback on the programs from participating clubs.

Mission & Tasks • The mission for the Vocational Service Committee is to lead the District’s efforts in encouraging clubs to recognize and champion worthwhile vocational activities by Rotarians and non-Rotarians • Tasks: • Inform clubs about vocational service and recognition • Organize District recognition events for Rotarians and non-Rotarians excelling in Vocational Service • Maintain appropriate resources on the District Website

Mission &Tasks • The mission of the Youth Services Committee is to champion club participation in S4TL (RYLA), Interact, Rotakids and Youth Exchange to the benefit of Youth, Rotary Clubs and Rotarians; and to provide a Youth Protector Program. • Tasks: • Encourage clubs to be engaged in each of the Youth Programs supported by the district • Provide club training of best practices for Youth Programs • Maintain resources and information about the Programs and Youth Protection on the website • Recruit & Support the District Leader for each Program • Make presentations available to clubs about the Youth Programs • Assure Youth Protection Training and systems are in place to assist Rotarians and Youth

Mission & Tasks • The mission of the District Conference Committee is to provide District Rotarians with a high quality District Conference under the guidance of the District Governor, Incorporating Rotary training, inspiration, recognition and fun. • Tasks: • Secure an appropriate venue with the approval of the District Governor • Develop and present a quality program designed to achieve the mission • Organize an appropriate ceremony honoring the in-coming District Governor, District Governor Elect and District Governor Nominee • Market the conference to Rotarians • Limit the District’s financial exposure to the amount budgeted and approved

  28. Conference Planning • District Conference 2015 • Location: South Seas Resort • Facilities: Rooms, Beach, Golf, Marina • Conference Committees are being formed Assistant Governors’ involvement to get the word out. The plan is to have a road show presentation to promote the conference.

Mission & Tasks • The mission of the Public Relations Committee is to lead the District efforts and support clubs in maintaining and improving Rotary’s public image and knowledge about Rotary accomplishments among Rotarians, potential Rotarians and the general public. • Tasks: • Provide training and resources in support of Club Public Relations Chairs and member’s activity, including help with preparation of press releases • Maintain a quality website • Design and manage the annual District Program, utilizing designated Rotarian PR Grant and District Funds • Encourage and maintain media relations for PSA and other free media • Lead District efforts to be relevant and current in the utilization of social media and other evolving PR opportunities • Assist the District Governor in planning and implementing an effective communication strategy

Mission & Tasks • The mission of The Rotary Foundation Committee is to encourage the Clubs and Rotarians to make regular and substantial contributions to TRF, to support District and Global Grant activities, to assure the best use of TRF contributions and to serve mankind • Tasks: • Encourage and coordinate District Grant Projects and District and Club Global Grants • Supply Resources & enthusiasm for TRF contributions • Present Grant Management Seminars • Coordinate Club efforts to educate members and raise contributions • Coordinate Club Qualification and District Qualification process • Maintain records of District Grants and DDF in cooperation with District Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer • Provide Training for club TRF Committee members • Maintain resources and information in support of clubs on the district TRF website

RI Individual Awards • Avenues of Service Award : Club presidents nominate a member who participates in each of the five avenues of service • Club Builder Award: DGs nominates up to 10 who support & strengthen their club • RF Citation for Meritorious Service: DG nominates Rotarians who are actively involved in service related to TRF • RF Distinguished Service Award: Nominated by Rotarians for exemplary service to TRF (prior winner of the Citation for Meritorious Service) • RI Service Above Self Award: nominated by current & past DGs or RO Directors for commitment to helping others • Service award for a Polio free world: Rotarians recognize outstanding contributions to polio eradication efforts. • Vocational Service Leadership award: DGs nominate Rotarians who use their occupation to make an impact in their community, profession & Rotary

  43. Governor’s Visit Protocol • There should be no other speaker scheduled for the day of the DG’s official visit. He/she is the speaker. • The DG and his entourage do not pay for meals. (They may be fined or sold raffle tickets.) • “All Rise” and applaud when the DG is introduced and when he is done speaking. • AGs should contact club presidents before the visit to confirm time and equipment • AG introduces DG. If unable to attend, ask the AGE to fill in.
