For tighter matching of Eng/Maths.” “Ian has been great ....” “Convincing English teachers to leave their groups to go out and work elsewhere is a challenge.” “Individual contact with Headteachers who are open to discussion and support.” “Working with local Headteachers (HUU Peer Reviews, HUU shared inset days, development of HUU).” “Working with other Headteachers on a needs basis.” “Contact and support with local Headteachers.” “Capacity from outside fills a gap to drive forward core subject areas.” “If you know where to seek expertise from elsewhere then that can provide key momentum in an areas in need of improvement.” “New models of sharing good practice.” “Peer to peer review (Uckfield-Wadhurst-Heathfield Model).” “The progress in schools working together and having an aim to raise standards across East Sussex not just in own school.” “Involvement of Pupil Premium project.” “School to school support – feedback project.” “Willingness to work together – shared accountability for all students in East Sussex.” “Alliance challenge partnerships.” “Pupil Premium work.” “Marking feedback group by Heathfield.” “Partnership working moving in the right direction.”

Even Better If? • Early start with year 10 data at the end of the summer term, would be good to start in June with a strategy in place for September. • “Collate the data for year 10 now and share the issues.” • “Start early and look ahead” • “Continue to develop a highly structured programme of support from the start of the year.” • “Start preparing for next year.”

Even Better If? • Current way of working seems to be going well with good momentum. • Face to face contact with Headteachers, especially around personnel issues was very useful ... • “Use of Terry Boatwright to coordinate the range of activities ..., so we are not re-inventing the wheel plus everyone is aware of what is on offer.” • “Ian has been great.” • “Marking feedback group by Heathfield (Alan).” • “Pupil Premium work by [Nigel].”

Asked for headteachers to share with each other any ‘walking/talking’ through exam strategies that have worked. • “Walk and talk through exams/mocks.” • “Support with focus on preparation for final English examination.” • “Offer support/revision techniques for indentified groups of pupils in individual subjects.” • “Exploring how to prepare students for exams.”

  8. Even Better If? 5. There is a need to look to the future and be less ‘reactive’ and more ‘proactive’ with support. • “Strategic focus on future issues eg. Progress 8.” • “Focus on analysis of new Progress 8 and Attainment 8.”
