You are responsible for the material inside. • If you need us, come talk to us (parents included.) Y’all are the reason we teach!

  4. Your Choir Teachers • Erin Walter erin.walter@granburyisd.org 817-408-4875 • Cathy Terrel • catherine.terrel@granburyisd.org • 817-408-4875

  5. About us… Mrs. Terrel Mrs. Walter

  6. Classroom Procedures #1 Be in your assigned seat BEFORE the tardy bell rings! Class begins the momentyou enter the room. You must have your materials BEFORE you sit down. Materials needed: Choir binder Pencil Anything else written on the board

  7. Don’t be late!!! Why? ‘Cuz let’s be honest…

  8. Preach it, Boromir.

  9. Classroom Procedures #2 ONLYchoir binders, music, and pencils allowed on risers! Purchase a ONE INCH binder for this class. Place backpacks on risers as you enter the room.

  10. Classroom Procedures #3 NOfood, drinks (except water), or gum are allowed in the choir room. SERIOUSLY, GUYS… Spit it out or stick it on the gum tree. (Located next to the pencil sharpener)

  11. We don’t want our room to look like this:

  12. Classroom Procedures #4 Have a good attitude! 100% EFFORT (without complaining)

  13. Grading Breakdown 65%Class participation, singing and written tests, material checks, outside rehearsals Line grade (20 per six weeks) 35% Public Performances Which adds up to…

  14. Public Performance Policy Good Bad

  15. Grading a Concert Your grade for a concert will consist of 5 parts each worth 20 points: 1. Warm up 2. Etiquette 3. Attendance 4. Memorization 5. Execution

  16. Warm Up Begins 30 minutes before your concert. WHY? We’ll sing some warm ups and go through our music. You will lose points if show misbehave or show up late.

  17. Etiquette Quiz! Or…audience skills When a choir is on stage you may: a) Talk to your BBF and ignore the performers b) Text or play a game on your phone quietly and clap when they are finished c) Yell and holler when they are finished (like you do at sports games or rock concerts) d) Listen quietly and applaud when they are finished

  18. Attendance & Memorization Attendance – in order to get full credit, you must be present at the concert. Memorization – you will sing off your music from memory before the concert.

  19. Execution This portion deals with how you handle yourself while on stage. Do not talk or goof off with friends while you are on stage. Mrs. Terrel and Mrs. Walter will be the ones to grade this part…and believe us…

  20. We have our spies…

  21. Missing a Concert If you are absent, you must make upthe grade! (Just like any other class) Attend another fine arts performance! If you see a conflict once you receive your choir dates, let us know ASAP! DO NOT come to us a week before the concert, it won’t work. Teamwork makes the dream work!

  22. Making up a Concert… You may make up 40 points by attending another fine arts performance. Bring us the program! You may make up 20 points singing off your music in front of the class. (This covers the memorization part of your grade) This covers the concert etiquette part of your grade. BUT…

  23. 20 + 40 = 60 That is the highest grade you can make on a majorgrade aftermaking it up. Imagine what happens if you don’t make it up…
