Dr. Jack Holladay Honored with ISRS Presidential Recognition Award

(1888PressRelease) Dr. Jack Holladay has also received the Barraquer Award, Casebeer Award, Founder's Award, Kritzinger Award and Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Bellaire, TX - Dr. Jack T. Holladay, a 41 year ophthalmology veteran that specialized in refractive surgery up until his retirement earlier this year, was honored with the ISRS Presidential Recognition Award. The Presidential Recognition Award is a special award which honors Dr. Jack T. Holladay's dedication and contributions to refractive surgery and the ISRS.

Dr. Jack T. Holladay is a board certified ophthalmologist, who earned his medical degree from the University of Texas and master's and bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University. Jack Holladay has dedicated his career to providing his patients with superior ophthalmologic care as well as sharing his vast knowledge with other doctors in order to ensure their success in providing patients with excellent eye care.

Dr. Jack T. Holladay retired from the clinical practice of Ophthalmology earlier this year, he continues to serve as a clinical professor of ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine and remains dedicated to participating in research, consulting, writing papers and attending conferences.

Dr. Jack Holladay is the author of three books, hundreds of chapters and over 100 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Jack T. Holladay serves on ten editorial boards and five medical advisory boards. Jack Holladay, MD received the Distinguished Service Award from the Commissioner of the FDA for his service and holds 12 patents since 1977.

Dr. Jack Holladay is the inventor of the Brightness Acuity Tester, an instrument which is used by ophthalmologists all over the world for testing the effects of glare on patients' vision. He has also developed various software programs, which are currently used worldwide by ophthalmologists to help restore their patients' vision following cataract removal and obtaining the best results following refractive surgery (LASIK). Dr. Jack Holladay has also been invited as a Visiting Professor to many of the major ophthalmology programs internationally.

Dr. Jack Holladay received the Ridley Medal from the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Binkhorst Medal from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Pearce Medal from the United Kingdom Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Lindstrom Medal from the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists and the Honor Award, Senior Honor Award and the Life Time Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

In 2009, Dr. Jack T. Holladay received the El- Maghraby International Award from the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology. In 2011, Dr. Holladay received the Jan Worst Medal from the International Intraocular Implant Club and the Benedetto Strampelli Medal from the Society of Ophthalmology in Italy.

Jack Holladay attended The University of Texas Medical School in Houston where he earned his Doctorate of Medicine. Jack Holladay completed his residency at Hermann Hospital, the teaching hospital for The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and was then invited to join The University of Texas Medical School Faculty.
