  4. Credentials Entry Level: • 3 year Graduate Level Program • Masters/Advanced Graduate Specialist Level • Minimum of 60 Graduate Credits • Minimum of 1,200 hour internship in a school setting

  5. Current Staff • 30 School Psychologists • All certified by MSDE • 5 have Doctoral Degrees 3 additional in progress • 19 are Nationally Certified School Psychologists

  6. Current Assignments • 9 assigned exclusively to therapeutic programs • A full-time psychologist assigned to the Stethem Center • A full-time Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Coordinator • A full-time Supervisor • 18 assigned to 34 schools

Safe Schools • Psychologists have received training by: • National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) • Maryland School Psychologists Association (MSPA) • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) • International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) • Supervising School Psychologist on an MSPA sub-committee writing a statewide Crisis Response Manual for School Psychologists

  12. Suicide Prevention • Mandatory annual staff in-service • Psychologists play the key role in assessing risk of suicide • More than 40 risk assessments have been conducted by school psychologists thus far this year

  14. Violent Risk Assessments • All school psychologists trained annually on protocols for Violence Risk Assessments • New administrators recently in-serviced • Incidents typically involve Juvenile Intervention Officers as well as the School Administrators

  15. School Psychologists use their training in both education and psychology to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. • Through collaboration with educators and parents they help create a safe and supportive learning environment and strengthen connections between home and school.
