  3. West & South Tripura district - Regularity in Serving Meals The sample schools serve cooked meal during the working hours of the schools. The MDM scheme (West Tripura) is very irregular in TankaTilla J. B. School and Ranjan Roy Smriti J B School. Mid Day meal is disturbed due to poor attendance and shortage of water supply in few schools. There was interruption in Chatakchari H. S. School due to low attendance and Manu H. S. School due to fund crisis (South Tripura).

  5. West & South Tripura district – Regularity in delivering FoodgrainsThe schools receive foodgrains regularly with some delays in almost all the schools. The delays are to a maximum of one/two months. However, buffer stock of one month’s duration is not maintained in most of the schools.

  6. West & South Tripura district – Regularity in Delivering Cooking CostMajority of the school authorities do not receive the cooking cost in advance. Generally, the extent of delay is up to a maximum of 3 months

  7. West & South Tripura district – Social EquityThe MI did not observe any gender or caste or community discrimination in cooking or serving or seating arrangements. All students seat on the available space made for mid day meal and takes the meal. Many schools do not have seating arrangements, so the students take the meals in the Verendah.

  8. West & South Tripura district – Variety of MenuThe Menu is Khichudi – 01 day, Rice and Egg Curry - 02 days, Rice and Vegatable - 02 days, Sweet Rice – 01 day.

  12. West & South Tripura – EnvironmentOverall, the environment is good but the cooking process is not safe and may lead to fire hazard. Childrens are encouraged to wash hands before and after eating. Water is a problem in almost all schools. Parents/VECs participate in large in the supervision of mid day meal. However, in some schools because of awareness, participation is less. There is a roster for the community members, but this is not followed. The community/parents are not fully aware about the quantity and entitlements of the nutrients in mid day meal.

West & South Tripura district – ImpactMid day meal programme is inspected by the officials.There is no frequency and regularity of such inspection Mid day meal has increased the regularity of the students in the schools and helped to reduce drop-out rate. Few school authorities also reported that there is a positive impact on the health of the student also.
