  3. What is ELPA? • The English Language Proficiency Assessment • A summative once-a-year state assessment used to measure the English proficiency of our English Learners.

  8. What is a Simple Sentence? • A simple sentence is a sentence with one independent clause. • An independent clause is a group of words with a subject and a verb that can stand alone as a sentence. Which is a simple sentence? A. Went to the store OR B. Jack went to the store.

  9. What is a Compound Sentence? A compound sentence has at least two independent clauses. Which of these is a compound sentence? A. Jack went to the store. B. It was closed. C. Jack went to the store, but it was closed.
