Trisomy, monosomy • Deletion- • a part of the chromosome is missing ex. Cri du chat • One base or multiple bases are deleted, leads to a frameshift • Insertion- a base or multiple bases are added or repeated, leads to a frameshift • Inversion- a segment of the chromosome has been reversed • Translocation- part of a chromosome breaks off and joins up with a nonhomologous chromosome • Base substitution- one base pair has been substituted with another, this does not always change the amino acid being coded for.
