  2. Curriculum • Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary, and Writing are all under a new curriculum! • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s “Into Reading”

  3. Curriculum- continued • Math- enVision • Social Studies – Pearson • Science- Houghton / Mifflin / Harcourt – Fusion

  4. Ms. Gorman • Reading Comprehension • Writing • Vocabulary and Spelling • Grading: • 60% Tests • 10% Homework • 30% Classwork

Classroom Procedures • Daily Do-Now and Write homework in agenda (5-10 Minutes) *Review from previous days • Spelling homework assigned Monday, due Thursday *Test Friday unless otherwise specified *All spelling will be checked Thursday • Discuss Class objectives/ Goals for the day • Whole Group Lesson (20 Minutes) • Small Group Assignment (30-40 Minutes) a. Spelling classwork each week b. Reading graphic organizer paired with independent reading *Follows same style as Whole Group lesson c. Teacher check-in several times a week

Homework • Monday-Thursday • Spelling will be the same format each week, different words • Monday- Write words 3 times each • Tuesday- Write sentences using vocabulary words. • Wednesday- ABC Order • Thursday- Homework due • Friday- Spelling tests • Grammar will be a review activity using concept of the week • Workbook pages/ occasional worksheets • Grammar tests will be every 2-3 weeks and NOT on a Friday • You can always have your child read for 15-20 minutes or even read a chapter book with them for family book club!

Grading Scale (Determined by the Southeast Delco School District) • A = 90 -100 • B = 80 - 89 • C = 70 - 79 • D = 60 - 69 • F = 0 - 59 • Students are responsible for bringing home tests/quizzes that are returned to them. • “Power School Parent Portal” to keep you informed of your child’s ongoing progress. Please check weekly.*Progress Notices and Report Cards.*

  18. Field Trip • Fort Mifflin located 15 minutes away in Philadelphia near the airport. • May 15, 2020. • Cost $15. • Ties into our study of the American Revolution. • Clearances • Permission slips, money collection, and chaperone requests will happen in April 2020.
