  3. …everybody is cross-walking • CCS = walking (AASL, IFC, NYS) • Walk a mile in cross-walking shoes • Get your walking shoes on … • Let’s walk together (CCS & IFC) NYCSLS Common Core 2011

Early Walking: Kindergarten • For each of the IFC Benchmark Skills, identify the skill and either underline or record it. • The DOE’s Citywide Instructional Expectations • Let’s plug the IFC Benchmark skills into the three Common Core Standards for the Citywide Instructional Expectations • Skills with assessments = entry to collaboration (K.5) NYCSLS Common Core 2011

The Common Core/IFC Implementation Process • Find the grade standards for the Citywide Instructional Expectations • Look at the cross walk • THINK about the IFC skills aligned with the CCS • Find the IFC assessments • Reach out to collaboratively plan lessons using the IFC assessment NYCSLS Common Core 2011

  8. Build a Lesson… • Using an assessment: K.5 • Modify the assessment document if need be • Collaborate with teacher to bring in content • Co-teach lesson to address both CCS and IFC • Then use assessment to see if they “got it” NYCSLS Common Core 2011
