  2. Evaluation Goals • Form a Committee of Stakeholders to provide input into the configuration of the middle school schedule • Make a recommendation for the configuration of the middle school schedule • Implement the recommended configuration for the 2014-2015 school year

  3. Probing Questions • How do we provide equitable opportunities for students to participate in core academics and specials? • What is the best configuration of the middle school schedule to accommodate the academic needs of all students?

  4. Concepts on the Table • Teaming for grade 6 • Rotating schedule for grades 7 & 8 • Quarterly rotation for exploratory subjects offerings • Scheduled music and art • STEM and STEAM • Language and literacy • Resource/academic support • Advanced core subjects

  5. Revisiting the Current Middle School Schedule • Parent Forums • Input regarding the strengths and limitations of the current schedule • Identify elements that benefit students • Teacher Focus Groups • Input regarding the strengths and limitations of the current schedule • Identify elements that benefit students • Solicit recommendations regarding scheduling, programming, and professional development • Steering Committee • Develop a middle school configuration that reflects the priorities identified by the parent forums, teacher focus groups, and administrative guidance

  6. Professional Consultation • Contract with a consultant to facilitate the process • Work directly with Steering Committee and Administration • Provide recommendations • Build a master schedule around identified priorities
