Tests • Verification of the model for UX stray fields • measurements in the UX: H.Taureg • Contribution of L3 and Muon magnets individually • At critical rack locations, outside/inside racks • Equipment functionality tests: detector groups • Inside L3 magnet and in the UX • When: • August 2004 • Test of critical devices • Any device that might be sensitive to low B-fields: • Power supplies, ethernet devices, etc • When: • Started in May 2004

  4. Power distribution & Racks Power limited to ~ 3 kW per rack • all ux rack users to check and adapt their rack layout ! • Rack application for DCDB will be prepared

  5. HV & LV Power Supplies

  6. PLC’s • PLC’s have relays and transformers but no ventilators • Probably ok for >200 Gauss • Should nevertheless be checked

  7. Ethernet • Detector groups to precise to integration team (J-P.Vanuxem) in which racks and for what equipment ethernet is required.

Other equipment • UX users to check/test any other equipment which might be sensitive to B-field. • Test facilities at CERN: • TA1 Magnet Lab B-168 • Gap ~ 25 cm reservation: W.Flegel, PH/TA3 • CMS Magnet Lab B-887 • Gap ~ 50cm reservation: B.Cure, PH/CMI • dipole in T7 beam-line, east hall • Gap ? reservation: SPS coordinator • GOLIATH dipole in H4 beam-line • Gap ? reservation: SPS coordinator

Summary of actions I • Verify the B-field model for UX • TC in August • Check rack dissipation < 3kW • Rough overview: TC + detectors in July – August • Systematic check (DCDB): TC + det. before end 04 • Move all HVPS to the counting rooms • Okay from detectors in next TB • Follow-up the implications for the LVPS • To be included in common LVPS specification: TC + detectors before September

Summary of actions II • Test ethernet switches • TRD team before purchase • Test devices with ethernet ports • Identify the devices: TC + detectors in July - August • Test devices: detectors as soon as possible • Verify implications of water cooled LV & VME PS • Change orders, exchange already ordered crates: detectors as soon as possible • Water supply and piping: TC before end 04 • Verify all devices foreseen for ux • B-field tolerance to be entered systematically in DCDB: detectors before end 04
