  3. Background • Families and Social Care (FSC) are reviewing its remaining in-house provision following the Older Person’s Modernisation Programme which commenced in June 2010. • Phase 1 of the programme led to the closure of 6 homes in 2011 • Phase 2 commences 20 September for 12 weeks

  5. Provision in Swale Swale 10 mile radius No of beds-629 15 care homes; 6 fully compliant with CQC Standards

Extra Care HousingRegis Gate, Sittingbourne • New scheme opening in September 2014 • Self contained, en-suite accommodation with catering facilities • Community space with lounge, gym and activity rooms • Assisted bathrooms • Care on site 24 hours a day, with flexible hours and types of support offered

  7. Consultation Proposal To close the service and find alternative accommodation for residents in the independent sector

  8. Process and timetable • Consultation period 20 Sept- 13 Dec 2013 • Report on outcome of consultation endDec 2013 • Report to Members January2014 • If closure approved- Implementation period Feb- Sept 2014 No final decision on closure until Members have made their decision in January 2014
