  1. A Rainbow’s “Pot of Gold” “Praise be to the Lord…Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave.” 1 Kings 8:56

  2. The Facts, Please! A rainbow is an arch of beautiful colors that may appear in the sky after a rainstorm. We can only see it when the sun is behind us and rain or a mist is in front of us. Sometimes the bow may spread all the way across the sky, with its two ends seeming to touch the earth. There are seven colors in each bow-violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. The red is at the top of the arch. The colors blend into one another so that we rarely see more than four or five of them clearly.

  3. More Facts, Please! • Rainbows are caused by sunlight striking drops of water. The sunlight hits the falling raindrops, which then act as prisms, reflecting the light. The different colors are formed as the light passes through the raindrops at different angles.

  4. More Facts, Please! A rainbow is actually a full circle. When the sun is near the horizon, a person on a high mountain or in a plane might see the complete circle. Sometimes there may be a primary and a secondary rainbow, whose colors are in reverse and less brilliant. The moon can also have a rainbow in softer colors.

  5. More Facts, Please! • An old legend says that there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and whoever finds it can keep it. Once a man set out to find the pot of gold, but it always seemed to be just beyond him. Of course, he never found it.

  6. How to Claim God’s Promise Not all promises in the Bible are for everyone. There are special promises that God made to the Jews in Bible times, and some are for the future. Many promises are for God’s children today. Each comes with a condition—something we must do before God will fulfill the promise. Look up each Bible text listed below. Match each text with the promise that God gives in that verse and with what you must do to claim the promise.
