Of these, • Gender • 79% male • 21% female • Race/Ethnicity • 53% Black • 27% White • 17% Hispanic • Mode of Transmission • 56% Men who have sex with men (MSM) • 19% Injection drug use (IDU) • 17% Heterosexual

  6. New HIV Infection Diagnoses in Chicago, 2008 In 2008, 1,309 persons were diagnosed with HIV Infection, as of 7/2010. Of these: • Gender • 78% Male • 22% Female • Race/Ethnicity • 60% Black • 20% White • 17% Hispanic • 3% Other • Mode of Transmission • 60% Men who have sex with men (MSM) • 23% Heterosexual • 14% Injection drug use (IDU)
