  3. OPHTHALMOLOGY • Study of the eye.

  4. CORNEA • Transparent anterior portion of the sclera.

  5. CONJUNCTIVA • Delicate membrane lining the eyelids and covering the anterior eyeball.

  6. CONJUNCTIVITIS • Inflammation of the conjunctiva.

  7. RETINA • Light sensitive posterior layer of the eye containing photoreceptor.

  8. RETINOPATHY • Any degenerative disease of the retina.

  9. KERATOPLASTY • Surgical repair of the cornea.

  10. Keratitis • Inflammation of the cornea.

  11. LACRIMAL • Pertaining to tears.

  12. EXOPHTHALAMUS • Abnormal protrusion of the eye.

  13. IRIS • Colored portion of the eye around the pupil.

  14. IRIDECTOMY • Surgical removal of the portion of the iris.

  15. Sclera • Tough, white outer portion of the eyeball.

  16. BLEPHARITIS • Inflammation of the eyelid.

  17. VA • Visual acuity.

  18. AUDIOMETER • A device used to test/measure hearing.

  19. CERUMEN • Waxy secretion from the glands of the external ear; ear wax.

  20. TINNITUS • Sensation of noises such as ringing, buzzing, whistling, booming in the ears.

  21. TYMPANIC MEMBRANE • Membrane between the outer and middle ear also known as eardrum.

  22. MYRINGEAL • Pertaining to the eardrum.

  23. MYRINGOTOMY • Surgical incision of the tympanic membrane.

  24. MYRINGOPLASTY • Surgical repair of the eardrum.

  25. TYMPANIC • Pertaining to the eardrum.

  26. EUSTACHIAN TUBE • Channel that connects the middle ear and pharynx.

  27. OTORRHEA • Abnormal discharge from the ear.

  28. OTOSCLEROSIS • Hardening of the bony tissue of the labyrinth of the ear.

  29. OTITIS MEDIA • Inflammation of the middle ear.

  30. OTOMYCOSIS • Any fungal disease of the ear.

  31. OSSICLE • Small bone, in the middle ear there are three small bones—maleus, incus, stapes.

  32. DEAFNESS • Loss of the ability to hear.
