  1. Types Of Solenoid Valves

  2. All About Solenoid Valves Solenoid valves find wide applications in fluid power pneumatic and hydraulic systems, to control cylinders, fluid power motors and in larger industrial valves. It is also used in automatic irrigation sprinkler systems, in domestic washing machines and dishwashers to control the flow of water into the machine.

  3. Types Of Solenoid Valves

  4. #1 “Direct Acting Valves” • In this type the coil magnetically opens the valve in a direct action. • It does not depend on the outside pressure to lift the shaft and seat of the valve. • The direct acting valves need full power only while opening the valve. This is because the direct acting valves are capable enough to hold their open position even when working on a lower power.

  5. #2 “Pilot-Operated Valves” • In this type of solenoid valves, it is the plunger that opens the pilot opening and the built-up pressure influences the valve to open and close. • In order to remain in open state, the Pilot-Operated Valves require full power. These types of valves perform at much slower rate compared to direct acting solenoids.

  6. #3 “2-Way Valves” • A 2-Way valve can either be referred as “Normally Open" or “Normally Closed” in its maneuver. • In case of “Normally Open", the valve closes only when external electrical energy is applied. On suspending the electrical power, the valve automatically re-opens. • The “Normally Closed” valve functions in an opposite fashion. It opens only when an external power is applied.

  7. #4 “3-Way Valves” • The 3-way valves is commonly used in coffee machine or dishwasher where alternate pressure and exhaustive pressure are necessary for functioning

  8. #5 “4-Way Valves” • The 4 Way Valves usually contains four or more port connections. Half of these port connections provide pressure while the remaining connections exhaust pressure. You can choose to have these valves normally closed, normally open or universal.
