  1. Things To Consider When Choosing Your Rifles Scope All shooters, i.e. hunters, competition shooters, and other enthusiasts that handle rifles and other firearms know that hitting the target is important – always. Therefore they make sure that they buy those firearms that are known to be good, to be reliable, offering important features to aid the success of shooters’ efforts. One such important feature will always be the accuracy with which the shooters can hit the target or down their prey. That to be able to achieve this, it is important to look at the type of riflescope one has fitted on top of the firearm to help ensure the highest levels of accuracy for the shooter. Even if the shooter is experienced and possesses great instinct, it can never be denied that the riflescope, style and type, and of course the quality, will always bear influence on accuracy. Many firearms are sold together with the riflescope the shooter is going to use when out there in the field or on the range; however, a great number of shooters buy the rifle and scope separately as it is a personal choice. For many a hunter and shooter choosing their own remains a real issue over which they can exercise a great deal of control, much as they want to choose the best brand and parts of their firearm. These firearm owners will therefore look closely at the different bases and rings they would need to fit on top of their firearm to ensure they have a good scope to help aid the accuracy when they aim. There are different options to ensure you have a great, well-fitted connection of scope and firearm. The experienced huntsman or competition shooter often knows what works best with what rifle or type of firearm; however, keen newcomers to the shooting are also likely to show a great interest in the scopes they can fit on top of their rifle. For example, the Picatinny rail, which is a well-known term used among firearm owners and handlers that are looking at good scopes, refers to the military standard type rail interface system for a firearm to provide a platform for mounting accessories such as scopes and their rings. The Picatinny is quite similar to the Weaver-style which is another popular style among those individuals that weigh up their options for rings and bases when they consider the ones they are going to acquire for their firearm. The main difference between the two types is encountered in the corresponding size of the recoil lugs you have on the bottom of the different rings when compared to the bigger size of the corresponding recoil slot you have in the base top.

  2. The Picatinny’s size is considerably bigger than that of the Weaver-style and therefore its rings will not fit into the Weaver base; however, the other way round there is a fit for the Weaver ring into the Picatinny base. These are issues for the customer looking at rings and bases to consider, therefore, for example. Other styles of rings and bases include, for example, the Leupold which is offered as either one or two pieces; they are known to be hardy and strong as they are generally made from steel. This type differs from the Weaver-style insofar as it is not easily detachable from your system, unlike the Weaver, for example. These may be, for the inexperienced rifle owner, a relatively small issue to consider; for the experienced person it becomes a much greater consideration and he/she will therefore choose more carefully to find the right accessories and fit as, ultimately, it is about ease of attaching and even more so about accuracy when firing.
