U of M Strategic Planning Framework

Goal:The University of Manitoba will be an employer of first choice, offering and expecting respect for all staff and faculty, providing opportunities for leadership, growth and development, and recognizing the contributions made at all levels of the organization.

It’s About Us: Employee Experience Survey

  • First opportunity for academic and support staff to provide feedback about what it is like to work at the U of M.

  • Designed by U of M representatives in consultation with Probe Research Inc.

  • Survey questions which emerged from previous qualitative process included:

    • Two-pronged opinion statements measuring importance of and agreement on 31 factors across 7 dimensions.

    • Eight open-ended questions.

    • Five statements measuring attitudes toward the workplace.

    • One question measuring overall job satisfaction.

It’s About Us: Employee Experience Survey

  • Conducted between June 15 – 30, 2011.

  • 1440 out of 4725 eligible employees responded to this survey (30.5% response rate).

  • Overall survey response rate for many higher education institutions is about 20%.

  • 31.5% of respondents provided verbatim comments to the open-ended questions (3634 units of entry).
