  1. MAKING DISCIPLES Evangelizing Discipling Mentoring

  2. STEP 1: “Altar call ministry” - Be ready with your Bible - Take them to a secluded spot

  3. STEP 1: “Altar call ministry” • Do not assume anything about their spiritual condition: Ask specific and direct questions before sharing the gospel. EXAMPLE: • May I ask you why you came to the altar? • (2) Are you saved? • (3) Are you a Christian? • (4) Would you like to accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour RIGHT NOW? • (5) Would you allow me to show you from the Bible how you can be saved?

  4. STEP 1: “Altar call ministry” - Depending on their answer or their need; then you meet them where they are. - Create opportunity for evangelism if that was not their desire; however do not push it.

  5. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord - Present the gospel in a clear, comprehensive yet concise way - Do not be in a rush nor should you engage in a sermon

  6. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord • Whatever gospel outline you choose to present, you need to check periodically both for understanding and acceptance of what is being said. EXAMPLE of questions: • Am I being clear? • (2) Does that make sense to you? • (3) Do you understand what I just said? • (4) Do you accept what the Bible just said? • (5) Do you believe what this verse says? • (6) What do you understand this verse to mean?

  7. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord - Clarify any significant issue, word, thought or idea that they might be misunderstanding before moving on in your presentation.

  8. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord Because there are so many influences and beliefs systems out there, they might be clouded by some other concept in their mind. Hence, sometimes, you may have to dig a little deeper by checking and clarifying what they think is a means of salvation or way to heaven.

  9. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord NOTE: Please do not assume that because you gave a clear presentation of the gospel that they accept it as the only way to be saved. In their minds it may be just “one of” or “part of” a way to get saved. (Ex. Baptism, works, tongues, etc.)

  10. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord • Having cleared the air; invite them to make a decision. State clearly what this process entails and if necessary briefly reiterate what they are about to commit to. Give them opportunity to respond by asking questions like: • If this is what you want to do we can pray to God right now for salvation? • (2) Are you ready to accept Jesus as your saviour right now? • (3) Since you understand what was said, would you like to trust Jesus for eternal life right now?

  11. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord • NOTE: The decision time is the most crucial point; therefore they need to be sure of what they are doing so it wouldn’t hurt to ask them in detail: • Are you willing to repent of your sins? • Are you willing to give God control of your life? • Are you willing to transfer your trust to God?

  12. STEP 2: Leading someone to the Lord Once there is consent then give them the option to pray for themselves (preferably aloud) or pray by repeating after you.

  13. Scripture References on Salvation • John 1:12 • John 3:16-18, 36 • John 5:24 • Acts 16:30-31 • Romans 10:9-13 • Ephesians 2:8-9

  14. STEP 3: Assurance & Confirmation • Ensure them of the biblical promises that we are kept by the power of God and that once we are genuinely saved, we are saved forever. • We escape the judgment and condemnation of death and hell. (John 5:24)

  15. STEP 3: Assurance & Confirmation A believer is saved forever in God’s hands. • John 10:27-30 • Romans 8:35-39 • 1 John 5:4-13 • John 6:35-40 • 1 Peter 1:3-6
