  5. Chapter 6: 6.3.1.7.2 • Request: The dimension for the tips of the outer pilot tubes above the lower opening of the specimen holder should be the same in the text and in Figure 6-4. • Answer: Will be done.

  6. Chapter 6: 6.3.1.8.1 • Request: The outer cone of the pilot flame in the text differed from the size of the same flame in Figure 6-5. • Answer: It will be corrected to 0.25 in. (6 mm).

  8. Chapter 6: 6.7.1.1 • Request: Change that calibration of furnace prior to testing each day be made to be done periodically. • Answer: It will remain the same as calibration time was greatly improved when using the new furnace and Gardon gauge.

  9. Chapter 6: 6.7.2.7 • Request: Add the sentence, “This method and test chamber are not recommended for use in gas sampling.” • Answer: The warning not to perform any analysis of gases during the test duration was to prevent the compromise of the test criteria, not to determine the use of this apparatus.

  10. Chapter 6: 6.7.2.7 (Continued) • Request: The depth of smoke test holders should be the same as OSU holders. • Answer: An extension device was made by Newport Scientific to accommodate oversize samples. Perhaps this could be adapted to use for deeper samples.

  11. Chapter 6: 6.7.2.7 (Continued) • Request: Include that the use of a calorimeter is also allowed to calibrate the heat flux of the NBS chamber furnace. • Answer: This is noted in the supplement section 6.3.1.6. It should also be stated that it is to be used with the new furnace.

  12. Chapter 19 • Request: Correct Figure 19-5. • Answer: Figure 19-5 will be removed.

  13. Chapter 19(Continued) • Request: That the chapter contain matching text and figures. • Answer: The chapter will be modified in the area of page and figure 19-4.
