Telecommunications and Information Technology Services Market The followings are represented on ICT market of Uzbekistan: Joint Stock companies: «UzbekTelecom», «Uzbekiston Pochtasi», «Matbuot Tarkatuvchi» There are 18 enterprises and 3 of them are joint stock companies. Cellular operators: More than 650operators& providers of data transmission and Internet More than 100companies are engaged in software market

  3. Share of Investments Attracted to Telecommunications Total volume of attracted credits and investments is more than$966mln.USD, Under Government guarantee projects – 461 mln.USD, Direct investments – 505 mln.USD

Development of Telecommunications Infrastructure As results of realized projects: • Digitalization of telecom network in regional centers and towns is 100%, and in rural areas is52 % • Digital long-distance telephone exchanges were installed in all regional centers • Telephone exchanges digitalized with total capacityof 1,8 millionnumbers • More than10 000 kmfiber-opticandmicrowave lines were constructed • National TV-Radio broadcasting coverage of population reached to 100% • FM broadcasting network was deployed • CDMA-450 standard wireless access system is implemented

Personnel Training in Information Technologies 2006 Uzbek-Indian Centre of Information Technologies at TUIT was established 2002Tashkent University of Information Technologies (TUIT) was established on the basis of former Tashkent Electro Technical Institute of Communication 2003 Centre for Training and Support of Young Software Developers was established 2004 Centre for Women Training on Telecommunications and ITunder the TUITwas established 2006Uzbek-Chinese Engineering Technical Centrewas established

International Activity Communications and Information Agency is authorized to represent the Republic of Uzbekistan in following international organizations: International Telecommunication Union Universal Postal Union Regional Commonwealth in Communications European Telecommunications Standards Institute www.itu.int www.upu.org www.rcc.org.ru www.etsi.org

Prospective Directions of Cooperation in Telecommunications Proposals for mutual cooperation: • Development of New Generation Networks (NGN) • Solution of “Last Mile” by realizing projects of development of broadband access networks (FTTH, FTTC,ADSL,HDSL…) and wireless access technologies (WiFi, WiMax, 3G...) • Implementation of Digital TV and Radio • Development of Intelligent and other services

Prospective Directions of Cooperation in Information Technologies • Training of high-qualified specialists in IT, including software developers; • Implementation of IT to state management and creation of “E-government”; • Development of software production; • Implementation of IT to social-valued spheres (education, medicine and etc.); • Production of LCD, PD-monitors; • Production of ICT’ elements base; • Production of broadband access equipment.
