  3. Who am I ? • Cathal McHugo. • Research Masters student with the EMRC. • What is the EMRC ?

  4. EMRC, what we do. • We aim to provide: • Evaluate and support for the use of computer based training tools. • Maximise the use of “off the shelf” tools and materials. • Collaborate with partners in EU and other programmes in computer based learning.

  5. Blended Learning. • Welcoming alternative to traditional methods. • Adds flexibility to learning environment. • Students need to be highly motivated. • Communication is a key factor. • Combination of asynchronous self study and face to face teaching

  6. Project Background Information. • Phoenix Project. • Based on software re-usability techniques. • Allows structuring of content, e.g Different course design. • Upload content capabilities. • Features browse capabilities.

  7. Project Background Information.. • Electronic Production Module • Module taken by third year Electronics Systems class. • First time to partake in any form of online learning. • Module required three technical reports to be produced. • Aim of project was to produce a set of class notes.
