  1. 17 Sept 2014 Bell Activity: JOURNAL 15-18+ lines…..If you could live anywhere in the world where would you choose to live and why? Describe what you would spend your time doing or what would be the best parts of living in your chosen location. What might be the negative aspects of living in your chosen location. If where you live doesn’t matter to you, why not, and what does matter to you? Today’s Agenda: Peer Unwrite LIBRARY DAY - MAKE SURE YOU BRING YOUR BOOK TO RENEW OR RETURN. SSR – YOU MUST HAVE A NOVEL TO READ DURING 2ND HALF OF BLOCK.

  2. WHICH IS THE BETTER PARAGRAPH? WHY? Christmas is a wonderful holiday. During this holiday there are lots of fun things to do. Every Christmas my family goes to McCall and spend time in at our cabin. We like to go snowmobiling and snowboarding. One year we were snowmobiling across Lake Cascade and we stopped at the opposite edge. My mom had brought along a cooler of food. It was fun to sit and drink hot chocolate in the snow. Afterwards we had a huge snowball fight. The food at Christmas time is another reason it is wonderful. My mom always makes Christmas candies and cookies. On Christmas day we eat a huge meal with my grandparents and cousins and my grandma always makes a ham with a sugary glaze that I love. My favorite holiday of the year is Christmas. During this holiday there are lots of fun things to do and one is to go to McCall. We visit our cabin at Christmas time. Another thing we do is go snowmobiling. Spending time with my family is another thing I do at Christmas. On Christmas morning we can’t open presents till everyone is awake. We also go skiing as a family.

  3. If you had to give the writer feedback, what would you tell them to do to fix the paragraph? My favorite holiday of the year is Christmas. During this holiday there are lots of fun things to do and one is to go to McCall. We visit our cabin at Christmas time. Another thing we do is go snowmobiling. Spending time with my family is another thing I do at Christmas. On Christmas morning we can’t open presents till everyone is awake. We also go skiing as a family.

  4. PEER UNWRITE • READ THE “READERS INSTRUCTIONS” ON THE ASSIGNMENT SHEET • AFTER READING THE INSTRUCTIONS, IF YOU ARE CONFUSED: • REREAD, THINK, REREAD, THINK, THEN ASK. • FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS AS GIVEN. • IF YOU HAVE A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT THE PARAGRAPH, DO YOUR BEST, MAYBE GUESS A BIT. • REMEMBER TO COMPARE THE SENTENCE TO THE WARRANT JUST PRIOR AND THE CLAIM. IF IT DOESN’T SUPPORT THE LAST WARRANT, BUT IT DOES SUPPORT THE CLAIM, IT IS ANOTHER WARRANT. • RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU ARE STUCK, BUT MARK YOUR BEST GUESS FIRST..

  5. AFTER YOU FINISH THE PEER UNWRITE…. Put it in the basket appropriate for the writer Then return to your desk and begin SSR

  6. LIBRARY DAY • RENEW YOUR BOOKS IF YOU AREN’T DONE READING THEM. • RETURN BOOKS WHICH ARE FINISHED • FIND A BOOK TO READ • YOU MUST HAVE A BOOK TO READ WHEN WE RETURN. • TODAY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EARN 2 FOR 1 POINTS: • SSR POINTS FOR READING YOUR BOOK SILENTLY • MINUTES TOWARD YOUR IRB BOOKMARK.

  7. IF YOU WERE ABSENT….. The PEER UNWRITE was an assignment done in class yesterday. Students submitted a clean copy of their best organized paragraph and a second student was given the assignment to color code the claim, warrants and evidence within the paragraph and then create a corresponding t-chart. This is a valuable activity for those trying to determine the organization of a student’s writing and for the student receiving feedback from his or her peers. In an attempt to mimic the activity, your student should color code the paragraph printed in slide #3 and create a corresponding t-chart.
