  3. 05-06 Goals “Equipment” • New computers installed in every elementary classroom – PE, RE, SG, TC • New computers installed at RE computer lab (came from EG keyboarding lab). All elementary labs running Windows XP • New computers installed at EG keyboarding lab and set up for wireless access. • New computers installed at FC for teachers, library lab, and computer apps lab • New computers at MS Keyboarding lab, MS Library and Library lab • New computers installed at high school business department. These were funded through the Vocational Enhancement Grant that Ryan Gooding wrote spring 2005. • Moved Channel 15 computer to ASC to allow access for Michele Donahoe. • Mini T-Net installed at ASC for Channel 15 video presentations. • Equipped key administrators with lap tops – their previous computers are being utilized in the FC

  4. 05-06 Goals “Services” • District web page re-designed and organized – constantly tweaking. Main page updated weekly with new highlights. • TIPs program initiated with 9 teachers – one from each building. • Building web pages re-designed and updated as part of TIPs training • High school athletics' web site re-designed and updated in cooperation with Steve Simmons and the Ray-Pec Booster Club • Tech Tip of the week initiated. See comments from recipient on next slide. • Teachers registered for February PD day on Blackboard • Linda Portman supports secretaries twice a week with specific computer and software skills • Monthly training has been offered for all staff by Judy Biggerstaff • Technology one year extension submitted to DESE • ASC shared calendar to record building visits

  5. 05-06 Goals “Services” • Coordinated the purchase of lap tops for training and curriculum planning housed at ASC • eMints lap top program expanded to remaining 4th grade teachers at Peculiar Elementary • Weekly meetings with elementary computer teachers – curriculum correlated with classroom content to support student achievement • Coordinated the research, pricing, and writing for 06-07 Vocational Enhancement Grant • Cooperative training with ISA with new teachers on computer skills – SIS and Power Point • Offered two technology presentations for the February professional development day workshops • Working with ISA to develop joint instructional technology goals to support curriculum needs

  6. Tech Tips of the Week Comments Judy Biggerstaff has been sending out via email every Wednesday Tech Tips. These are little step-by-step instructions on how to do a specific task either in Group Wise, Word, or other applications we have available. Below is just a few of the many comments that have been sent in response to these tips. • Just thought I'd let you know that I appreciate your tech tips! I print them out and save them so keep them coming. • I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your in-service training today. I have already used my ODBC training. I am creating a presentation for the Stakeholders Series and was able to pull information using ODBC. It is great! Thanks again! • Judy, Just wanted to let you know how handy your little tips have been. I've been printing them off and keeping them in a folder. This tip this week is perfect timing for me since I'll be out of the office a couple of days. Now I know how to auto reply. • Excellent timing! I was just having this conversation with several others yesterday on how to archive e-mails. These tech tips have been wonderful and you do such a great job of making them user friendly and thorough. Great work! • This is a random email, but I just wanted to tell you how helpful these tech tips are! I'm a former eMints teacher and I'm picking up new info all the time! Thanks for doing this for us. :O) • I love your tips and am saving them. Would you please do one of your tips on creating a folder-such as when you have a large e-mail and then you want to save it to a folder. • Thanks, • Thank you, thank you, thank you!! This is a topic I needed but just never got around to learning. • Thank you so much for the tip on how to turn off the canvas! I have been fighting that for years and hated that feature. Thanks again • Thank you. This is a tip I can really use and didn't know how to do before!

"05-06" Goals “Network Security” • Purchased UPS battery backups for main hub room at Shull. • Created uniform logins for Blackboard – students and staff. • Moved district software to secure location. • Lock on hub room installed. • Network administrators provided with software to monitor Internet activity and run reports. This allows the blocking of inappropriate sites • MoreNet contracted to conduct an external security check – to be finished this spring • Fourth T1 installed from MoreNet – cost covered by MoreNet • All substitute teachers will sign a Technology User Agreement

  8. “06-07” Goals • Three year technology plan • Implement individual student log on to access network • Install and implement Dell Enterprise system • Allows secured and backed up storage space for every teacher • Allows secured and backed up storage space for students in grades 5-12 • Implement district wide phone system using IP Telephony • Voice mail for all staff • Voice mail sent directly to email • Easily access voice mail away from district • Allows for expansion with lower cost – purchase of phones only • Implement multi media copiers in place of single function copiers • Save on cost of toner and ink for printers in buildings • More convenient copying from PC • Scan to PC from copier • Send and receive faxes from copier, saving on cost of toner for fax machines as well as sending faxes from PC

  9. “06-07” Goals • Implement web based SIS • Improved Parent Link and grade book view • Ability for staff to access system from home over the Internet • More communication tools for teachers and administrators • Students will have individual log to view information from teachers • Continue TIPS program – adding a person for each building • Use TIPS teachers to help develop grade level or departmental web pages • Use TIPS teachers for technology training for their staff on web based SIS and United Streaming • Tech Connect program – this is an assessment and professional development plan of the expectations for all certified and classified computer users • Implement United Streaming video service • Utilization of Zenworks2 for student computer security • Propose purchase of Total Traffic Control system – includes virus protection, content filtering, better network monitoring tools, and system authentification
