  3. How It Started • Police raided an all black “Blind Pig” at 12th Street and Clairmount Avenue. • 83 African-Americans were celebrating the return of a Vietnam Vet. • Police tried to arrest all on the spot. • Angry crowds gathered outside

  4. National Guard & 82nd Airborne • National Guard was mobilized within 2 days • On 4th Day of Riots 82nd Airborne was called by President Johnson
