  1. Building a Gaming PC part 4: How do I do that?

  2. Today’s Learning Target • Adding Lights and Gauges • Customizing Your Case

  3. Today’s Sponge • What does RAID stand for? • What is a RAID array?

  4. Adding Lights & Gauges Question: What does adding lights and gauges to your PC do for your gaming experience? Answer: zero. Zip. Nada, nuttin, bupkis, goose egg!

  5. So Why do it? • Adds to your reputation the next time you show off your PC • Like the custom wheels on a ‘69 Dodge Charger • Visual extras add that cool touch to your PC

  6. Eye Candy 101 • Lighted Fans-B/c you need fans anyway, why not get a fan that glows? • Rope lights: flexible rope which can be fitted to the interior of your case. Transparent panel is a must to receive full benefit • Cold cathode and UV lights: Aren’t flexible, but offer neat effects (think neon). • If your room is decorated with black light posters, one of these lights mounted in your case would be cool!

  7. Eye Candy 101 • Lighted Feet: Not kidding-you can buy illuminated plastic feet to replace those oh-so-mundane rubber feet on the bottom of your case! • Think of those cars you see on the road at night with the neon glow underneath—same idea!

  8. Eye Candy 101 • Temperature guages: • Eye candy that provides information too! • Provide real-time info. About the temperature inside your case • Mounted in a 3 ½ “ frame that allows it to be installed in a standard PC • Today’s mobos can report both the temp. of your CPU and RPM speed of your CPU & case fans through software so you don’t really need it!

  9. Eye Candy 101 • Fan Controls: • Need complete control over the amount of air moving through your supercomputer’s case? • Fan control units are mounted in a drive bay • Twist of a knob can increase your airflow as necessary

  10. Customizing your case! • Complete transparency? • Alien or demon face? • Tribal graphics • Hotrod Flames? • Even characteristics modeled after the characters in today’s hottest games?

  11. What’s the easiest mod you can perform? • You can do a custom paint job • Use stencils or freehand art • Do not paint with the components inside!! • Never paint the inside of your case!
