  2. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Women considered to be the weaker section in society, also sometimes suffered domestic violence. Such incidents are quite common in lower socio-economic classes. Cases of drunken husband beating up the wife and children, and even causing them injuries daily. Now government has passed a law known as ‘The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act’ in 2005. It has given some legal protection to women who face physical and mental violence in their homes.

  4. ANTI-ARRACK MOVEMENT The anti-arrack movement demanded prohibition on sale of arrack. Though the demand was simple, it was linked to social, economic and political issues of the region which affected women’s lives. Groups of local women, therefore, tried to address the issue in their agitation against the arrack. Women even deliberated on the issue of domestic violence openly. Their agitation provided a platform to discuss private issues of domestic violence. So the anti-arrack movement became a part of women movement. Women activists demonstrated and demanded a ban on sale of arrack

  5. Sexual harassments refers to physical or verbal behavior that is of a sexual nature and against the wishes of the women. SEXUAL HARASSMENT
