  1. Classroom Technology Plan By Saundra Tyson-Dawson E7801 Instructional Technology Planning and Management Dr. Regina Merrwether

  2. Mission and Vision Statement Mission Statement My mission is to improve student achievement by integrating technology into my daily instruction. Vision Statement My vision is to create an educational environment where the students and I can utilize technological tools as a vital part of the learning process.

  3. Needs Assessment (SWOT Analysis)

  4. Goals & Objectives Goal #1: To incorporate technology into the curriculum to improve students’ academic performance in Math. Objective: To incorporate Study Island, a web-based instruction, practice and assessment standards mastery product, into the curriculum to improve mathematical performance as shown by my students’ increased test scores in class and on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT).

  5. Goals & Objectives Goal #2: To utilize technology as a communication tool with parents. Objective: To develop an effective interactive class Web site to facilitate effective teacher to parent communication.

  6. Goals & Objectives Goal#3: To build technology-based skills for improved learning. Objective: To develop lesson plans that will improve teaching and learning for my students by attending the Project Headware Not Hardware: 21st Century Thinking with 21st Century Tools workshop.

  7. Goals & Objectives Goal#4: To increase internet safety awareness for students when using the Internet. Objective: To address internet safety by scheduling all classes for Cyber Safety lessons with the Media Specialist.

  8. Initiative Description and Rationale I am striving to increase the role of technology in my Math classes. Currently, my classroom has two desktop computers and one is not working. We have two computer labs, one designated for Language Arts teachers and classes and the other lab is designated for Math teachers and classes. The school has three rolling labs that are currently not functioning correctly. All of the math teachers at my school with the expectation of one seventh grade math teacher and myself has promethean boards in their classes.

  9. Initiative Description and Rationale My students are able to access the internet and a web-based instructional software twice a month according to the math lab schedule. However, instructional technology in my classroom is not current and up-to –date. Many teachers, including myself would enjoy using technology for instructional purposes if it was available.

  10. Hardware, software, and facility resource requirements LCD Projectors eBeam Edge for Education  Whiteboards are in each classroom Computer-teachers already has a district issued laptop

  11. Instructional Resource Requirements and Staff Development Plan

  12. Itemized budget and Rationale eBeam Edge for Education – $899.95 per class LCD projector-87, 000 to 114, 000 for installation in half of the classes in the school I would like to put down the dry erase pen and pick up the future with eBeam Edge for Education. eBeam Edge for Education can transform existing classroom whiteboards and wall into interactive teaching spaces. It is about the size of a board eraser and lighter than a box of chalk. eBeam Edge for Education has rich curriculum resources built right in to make lesson planning easier. It is a portable unit that works with standard projectors and our current Windows computers.

  13. Itemized budget and Rationale

  14. Evaluation Plan and Timeline A teacher must know how to integrate technology into the curriculum and know how to evaluate its effectiveness in the classroom. This goes far beyond allowing students to use computers for practice, assessments or projects. It must include the ability to determine whether the technology use is effective in increasing student learning. I will continue to participate in the LoTi survey to evaluate my level of technology implementation in the classroom. I will also implement data driven, longitudinal comparisons of student achievement over the course of the three year plan by analyzing the increase in student previous to current scores on the standardized test. It is my goal to revisit this technology plan on an annual basis.
