  2. The Schedule • Six period Day • Two Semesters (18 weeks each) • 53 Minute Classes • 40 Minute Lunch • Each class you pass =.5 Credit • 3.0 credits each semester

  3. 9th Grade Core Requirements • 1.0 English • 1.0 Math • 1.0 Science • Consider taking Health and PE 9th grade year. • No Social Studies requirement for 9th Grade

  4. Core Class Options • English • 9th English • 9th Honors English • Science • 9th Physics • Honors Bio/Chemistry • AP Environmental Science • Principles of Engineering • Math(Depends on your Math level from 8th grade) • Algebra I • Geometry • Integrated 3A/3B or Adv Alg/Trig

  5. Levels of Rigor • Regular Core Courses – HS courses accepted by college admission standards. • Honors – Challenging courses that prepare students for college level classes (i.e. – AP) • Advanced Placement (AP) – College courses taught in HS.

  6. Advanced Placement (AP) in 9th Grade • AP Human Geography and AP Environmental Science are available to Freshman • AP is a fast paced, rigorous, college class taught in the High School. • You must have a great work ethic, motivation, and study skills to be successful in an AP class • You don’t have to start in AP as a Freshman to take AP classes later. • Discuss with current teachers, counselor, and parents to determine if an AP class is a good fit for you as a freshman.

  7. 4.0 English • 3.0 Math* (through 3A/3B or approved alternative) • 3.0 Social Studies (WA St 7th grade, WrldHist, US Hist, CWI) • 2.0 Science* (Phys. Science & Biology) • 1.5 PE & .5 Health • 1.0 Fine Arts • 1.0 Occ Ed/CCTE* (College, Career &Technical Ed) • 6.5 Electives • = 22.5 (MINIMUM FOR GRADUATION) • *STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) 6 total Graduation Requirements
