  2. Pathophysiology Atrophy is the wasting away of muscles due to the lack of use. Not using your muscles make them weak.

  3. Causes and Symptoms Causes could include; lack of use or exercise, mutations, poor nourishment, or poor circulation. The symptom of atrophy is weakness or loss of strength in muscles.

  4. Diagnostic Tools Blood tests X-rays MRI CT Scan Nerve conduction studies Muscle or nerve biopsy EMG

  5. Treatment Treatment will depend on the severity of the muscle loss. Most common treatments are: Exercise Physical Therapy Ultrasound Therapy Surgery Dietary Changes

  6. Dietary Considerations Your height and body weight will determine the amount of fat, fiber, protein, and calories you should have.
